![]() Both Logitech and Microsoft offer lots of options. Otherwise, I’d suggest visiting shops that sell keyboards, such as Maplin and Currys PC World, to try a few and pick one you like. Dell’s newer keyboards, such as the KB-212-B and similar models, are also serviceable alternatives. For example, the Dell SK-8115 has an excellent reputation, and you can find new ones cheap (eg £6.99) on eBay. You’re a Dell user so you could consider another Dell keyboard. Having enjoyed two courses of physiotherapy, I urge people to use ergonomic keyboards before problems arise, rather than afterwards. ![]() Ergonomic keyboards are much cheaper than the loss of work, or the weeks of expert physiotherapy, that often follow such afflictions. Many ergonomic keyboard users are older people who have suffered from arm or wrist problems such as RSI (repetitive strain injury) and/or carpal tunnel syndrome. ![]() The ergonomic solution is to split the keyboard so that each hand has its own set of keys. ![]() Ideally, your wrists should be in line with your arms. The major drawback with both types of keyboard is that you have to twist your wrists to use them. They are being kept alive byPC gamers, for whom rapid responses and N-key rollover are a matter of (virtual) life and death. Nonetheless, mechanical keyboards are still popular and easy to find, especially if you don’t object to fancy multi-colour lighting effects. Most people now learn to type on these isolated keyboards – or even on-screen keyboards – so I expect them to become almost everyone’s favourite. They’re ideal for laptops that are even thinner than mechanical keyboards. Isolated keyboards are much smaller, and very cheap to make. Mechanical keyboards are bulky and expensive to manufacture. There is no doubt about which way the keyboard world is going. These first appeared on Sony laptops (unless you want to count the Sinclair Spectrum’s “dead flesh” version), but Apple produced a fine aluminium example for its all-in-one Macs. Other people are equally big fans of isolated keyboards with flat keys that have very little travel. This comes from having learned to type on an ancient upright Remington that was built like a tank, then spent a couple of decades with an IBM Model M, which some claim is the finest keyboard ever made. These are: traditional keyboards, isolated keyboards, and ergonomic keyboards.Īs a touch typist, I’m a big fan of traditional keyboards with mechanical keys that click and have lots of travel. Piezo pickups are a great alternative to traditional magnetic pickups One nice thing about piezo pickups in regard to the overall sound is that you will not have to worry about picking up electrical hum as there are no magnets involved.īefore starting to break down the final details of using a piezo pickup on your guitar, it'll be important to understand how they work. Often, the circuitry of a piezo pickup system will need to include some form of compression because you will find that a piezo behaves fairly differently than a magnetic pickup in regard to how quiet or loud it is as compared to how soft or hard your playing style is. While they might not automatically turn your electric into an acoustic guitar tone-wise, they essentially represent the actual acoustic energy from your electric guitar.Īnother thing that you should be aware of is the dynamic response of piezo pickups. Piezo pickups are usually brighter and less warm than magnetic pickups, which allows for a high degree of string articulation and clarity in tone. It can be thought of as being more akin to that of an acoustic tone in numerous ways compared to the tone of magnetic pickups. In simpler words, the actual sound of the guitar. Some advertising art material can be seen here, here, here, here, and here.Mountain Dew has always been on the cutting edge of soda innovation for about as long as I can remember. As previously mentioned, despite Pitch Black winning the promotional contest, it was moved to a regional status soon after permanent release, before being discontinued mostly around mid-2019 in the United States except for the Midwest.DEWcision 2016 was similar to DEWmocracy I, DEWmocracy II and various smaller international DEWmocracy related promotions. The only production of Pitch Black that remained at this time was on soda fountains of certain convenience stores across the United States.īaja Blast, on the other hand, has maintained a high level of popularity - it not only remains at Taco Bell but continues to get yearly releases in bottles and cans, with the highest amount of sales each limited-time release outwards. Soon after, 12-packs were left discontinued entirely, and 20-ounce bottles followed shortly afterward in early 2021, resulting in both sizes cut from independent Pepsi bottlers in the Midwest. Several people still managed to find unexpired 20oz bottles and 12-packs in the Midwest region. From this, it has appeared to be somewhat of a misnomer, though - Mountain Dew officially claimed it hasn't nationally discontinued at this time. That as of May 1st, 2019, in a Reddit post, a Pepsi employee claimed that Pitch Black recently been officially discontinued due to low sales throughout its permanent release. In 2019 it was discontinued after availability had slowly declined. Many had complained in the following months about difficulty finding the drink, despite its permanence. Nevertheless, Pitch Black became the permanent flavor in 2016, after the promotion ended. Claims from Pepsi employees that the results were predetermined - former Pepsi employee G-Up claimed on the Dew Drinker Discord that "winning" Pitch Black bottles were received in Pepsi warehouses before the voting was over, and that Pepsi employees were emailed about Baja Blast's store release discontinuation before voting had finished. Some fans have raised the question, "why would Taco Bell want what is essentially their drink to become a staple of supermarket shelves, so that people would go there instead of Taco Bell?" Taco Bell created the flavor of Baja Blast, and it remains a popular drink and a possible selling point for people to desire to go to Taco Bell.Pitch Black cans during the DEWcision limited-time run didn't contain any "Limited Time Only" branding or branding, unlike cans of the competing flavor, Baja Blast.Additional factors appear to add proof to these claims, including: Although the official result of the campaign was the victory and subsequent, at-the-time permanent, release of Pitch Black, several fans claim that the promotion was allegedly rigged from the beginning to have Pitch Black end as the resulting winner and Baja return to Taco Bell as its own exclusive with promotional limited-time runs. ![]() ![]() ![]() First few steps we could say were a classical example of “starving artist”. ![]() Now you might be wondering why I’m bringing up such an insignificant memory. There were always ice cream vendors around and we could hear the bells, but never the big white truck. A couple of years later, we moved to the Chicago area, and I never saw a Good Humor truck again. Our mom would never let us eat the ice cream in the house. My brother and I would sit in the shade and munch on the heavenly treat. Ah, to think … an ice cream bar for a dime? I think my favorite was the toasted almond bar, but my memory has clamped onto the experience, rather than the end result. If we were lucky, we could feel the cool air that blasted from the side of the truck. Once the selection was made, the most exciting memory came to life, as the door on the side of the truck was opened by the driver and he would reach into the very back, while a mist of white, ice-cold smoke would pour out of the interior. I wonder if they did that because they knew we were too young to read. Hmm, they always had a picture of the treat next to the name. We couldn’t read, so we would have to point to the item on the menu on the side of the truck. I can’t remember if he had a hat, but I always remember he was a portly older man. The driver had white pants and shirt and a black belt that diagonally crossed his chest, which helped hold up the money changer he was wearing. I don’t know if it was on purpose, but the driver would park in such a way as to compel us to put our bare feet on the hot concrete and make us dance through the sales process. We would frantically wave and jump until the truck pulled over to the side of the road and stopped in front of us. For some reason, we always thought there might be a chance he wouldn’t see us, and we couldn’t let that happen. The truck was enormous to a four-year-old. It was the iconic, cab-open Good Humor Truck. And it wasn’t just any old ice cream truck. We would stand on the curb and watch the big, white open-air truck slowly work its way toward our staked out position on the street. We knew that if we didn’t move quickly enough, there was the chance that we would miss the ice cream truck. We quickly ran into the house and descended on my mother with unrelenting excitement until she coughed up a dime to just get us out of the house. It was as if my brother and I were on a mission and the clock was ticking. ![]() There was no such thing as air conditioning back then, but it was just the way it was.ĭuring the early afternoon, we heard the distinct bells of the ice cream truck blocks away.
